I personally know someone who was a successful campaign manager, and still runs them on the side, so I learned something about how at least some of them think. I spoke with him before and his mentality of things is sectionalising people into groups. As in, this group has this interest that must be spoken to and this group has this interest.

To be fair, one of his ads that he designed won an award and he has a good record of wins ... But his logic is also flawed. As is the logic of any advisor who wants to break up a message to cater to divergent groups.

My advice to your wife, speak to common interests that unite people. Speak to needs. To hopes, to dreams. Do what Trump does. Focus on what can actually be done within the realm of possibility and say what you hope to shoot for beyond. Speak to how things are and how the system is failing us, though I would suggest she try to avoid being personal. Speak of the system but don't make it personal so she doesn't invite sensational attack ads. If those come, have the high ground.

Also, be honest above all.

She needs to play to her strengths of personality. If she is humorous, leverage it to relate with the crowd. Self deprecating humor is a wonderful tool in that case, if done right like how Reagan did to disarm critics.

If she is honest and frank, then she should be that with her future constituents. Let them know who she is, what to expect, and what she hopes to do. Make sensationalist attacks that much more difficult and that much easier to expose.

Above all, remember the most important thing that both you and her can do. Pray. if this is what God wants for her, pray. She should do all that she can to stay within his will. Read the Bible. Study. Consider the lessons about leadership that can be learned from those who came before and what God says. I believe these instructions for leaders are within the Bible itself concerning Isreal's kings. We have both good examples and bad in what kings followed this and what didn't.
