I have a few friends but I have to be careful not to express "strong views"...
My adopted son ignored my warnings about the clot shots and has had "long covid" ever since. Tried to tell him about meds but he has shut me out. My daughter lives in Seattle and is slowly starting to wake up, but I still have to limit what I share.
Extended family overseas have forgotten me. They are happy with nominal Christianity, materialism and don't want to know about getting saved. Hey ho.
Found a good church recently, that has given me some much needed fellowship. I try to go for regular walks and usually get to chat with a few people. Winter is hard to bear: I love being outdoors, specially on my allotment (rented plot for veg growing in the UK). Have a few long standing pals there, apart from that I'm pretty much on my own with the Lord. I count my blessings and am content.
Having spent a lot of my life alone I am used to it, though sometime I wish there was someone else to share a joke with. A pleasure shared is a pleasure doubled. Am I hopeful of finding a soul mate? Not really - though life can be surprising.
I had an old neighbour who went into a care home and met the love of his life. They married, moved into his cottage and enjoyed their last years together. Annie and Wally were the most devoted, happy couple I ever knew. So - you never know. There may still be a Mr Right out there to travel the world with, or just share a few interests. Live in hope!
