David Szondy is a playwright, author and journalist based in Seattle, Washington. A retired field archaeologist and university lecturer, he has a background in the history of science, technology, and medicine with a particular emphasis on aerospace, military, and cybernetic subjects.

Erm. The first part certainly does not imply the second part. He is in no way qualified to discuss this subject IMO. Oh, but he writes so convincingly!. Yah.

Also there is the name of this blog, which is slightly confusing, because there is a youtuber who uses that name: https://www.youtube.com/@TheNewAtlas is qualified to talk about Military Math, as he has a Master's degree via the Military, and he will prolly tell us that this is a classic example of a wunderwaffen.

Whatever the magic (((Science))) is, it will emit radiation. Such weapons are very easy to find by radiation-seeking missiles. ONE missile, to be exact. Use the space-lazer once, and Poof, it's gone.

Mind you this does not exclude having a test-run in say: Hawaii, where no-one is aiming to shoot it out of the sky, 'cos natural disaster.
