The killing of RFK in 1968 was likely the last straw as RFK had all the info on Johnson’s criminal activities and was going to be the Democratic nominee. Recall that RFK was Attorney General in 1963 and was preparing to indict Johnson and/or force him off the 1964 JFK ticket for re-election which was highly likely. Johnson helped kill JFK and RFK (and likely others) to avoid prosecution.

LBJ’s treason was so egregious that the military had to tribunal him. However, it is interesting to note that it took until 1973 when he was out of office (no immunity and unable to pardon himself) to get it done. Theory is that Nixon had to replace key military leadership positions during Term1 (1969-1973) in order to get them to follow orders. LBJ military trial itself likely occurred sometime between election day 1972 and inauguration day 1973 when the military was in full control. It appears he got executed by the military 22JAN1973 with "heart attack" as cover.
