I've heard this speech many times and usually you just skip the marx part at the beginning. But recently changed my view...its important what he says, not just pandering to the press (his jfk conspiracy speech was a speech to the press). He says to be kind. That kindness or the lack thereof can have profound ripples through reality. He was saying that the press has an important job to do and as such 'a lowly news man' should be treated with respect and compensated like his job matters. The story JFK weaves of Marx is similar to a typical anime story arc characterizing the iterative depravity of a villain who started out a once kind person, but was beaten up over and over and eventually decided to punish the world as he grew in power. We're still getting fucked by Marx even today, some 60 yrs after this speech.

JFK would be SO ashamed of what we call 'journalists' today. In many ways they're a million times more vile than Marx

The story he gives very briefly is like a typical anime story arc of the iterative depravity of a villain that started out a kind person but was beaten up over and over and eventually decided to punish the world as he grew in power.
