Generally speaking, Hitler really admired the English people, and didn't really want to seek conflict with them, he was more indifferent to the French however. Germany was also punished severely by France in the treaty of versaille so there was a lot of animosity there. Churchill was deeply in debt during the inter-war years, and a shadowy group called the "Focus" group made up of rich Jewish bankers turned up and coerced Churchill to escalate the war with Germany and helped to 'alleviate' his debt problems, and in the end Churchill profited greatly from the war.
