It started off fine, but at some point when it moved from ABC to Fox (after ABC dumped it for political reasons) Tim Allen had some interviews where he was asked about whether he or his character in the show were Trump supporters, and the way he answered the question was hedged, but anti-Trump leaning.
Something like “Mike Baxter (his character) might have been the type to vote for Trump, but he’s always learning” or something.
And then he immediately defended himself by saying that Mike Baxter is just his character that he plays, and that he himself doesn’t hold those views.
He also eventually said they were not writing political jokes into the show anymore, and that his conservative character that he played was like a college degree’d Archie Bunker (I.e. a racist bigot)
The show itself is still funny to watch, but definitely not anti-woke beyond some surface level pandering most of the time.
