From that flowchart, it is clear that they would NOT want Bye-done to voluntarily withdraw from the race BEFORE the nomination. In that situation, they have to go through total chaos of voting for a replacement during their convention in Chicago. Side note: how awesome would it be for a repeat of the '68 convention?

AFTER the nomination, it would be much easier for the DNC to simply select a candidate (no pesky voting). However, Bye-done could only withdraw for certain reasons (such as death). This would be a problem for them. Each State has their own laws regarding the replacement of candidates on their ballots, deadlines, etc. That is going to be an enormous cluster-fuck all by itself.

IF Bye-done quits this weekend (as many are saying)... I think that is an indication that the white hats are making that decision, since it is the worst possible option for the D's and will lead to absolute chaos during their convention.

Another issue is that to preserve access to their current $250 million in donations, Kumquat would have to be the candidate. Only she and Bye-done are able to legally use those donations. Otherwise, all that money would have to be refunded to their respective donors. They cannot take those donations and give them to a different candidate.

Holy crap - this is going to be good...
