One of my favorite series ever, Neon Genesis Evangelion, recently got a re-dub with a "new" English script--one that, while technically more accurate to the Japanese, also does not sound like sentences a human being would actually say, for the reasons above.

Apparently it's the same script the anime studio originally wanted them to use when it was first brought over. No wonder the dub studio (ADV, now Sentai Filmworks) stuck to their guns until they let them change it.
