🚨🇺🇸REPORT: POOR VETTING PROCESS ALLOWED TALIBAN TO RECEIVE $239 MILLION IN U.S. AID. Less than a year after reports of the Taliban using fake nonprofits to steal U.S. aid, a new SIGAR investigation reveals the Taliban received $239 million in U.S. development assistance due to poor vetting by the State Department. The funds, intended to help Afghanistan, may have benefited terrorists. State's Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL) and International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) bureaus failed to comply with vetting requirements.

(1/3) SIGAR Fact Check: Some outlets misrepresented facts contained in two recent SIGAR reports. SIGAR reported that two #StateDept bureaus could not demonstrate compliance w/partner vetting requirements on awards that disbursed at least $293 million in #AFG. Result:
(2/3)….there’s an increased risk terrorist and terrorist-affiliated individuals and entities may have illegally benefited. SIGAR did not report that the Taliban received $239 million in U.S. aid

The Inspector General has confirmed the truths we've brought to the American public through the @ShawnRyanShow. U.S. cash shipments directly benefit the Taliban. To confront this urgent issue, demand the swift passage of @RepTimBurchett’s H.R. 6586 in the Senate.

The United Nations has helped the Taliban by funneling $3.8 BILLION worth of U.S. currency into Afghanistan. SIGAR, a government watchdog organization, released a report that also reveals how the United Nations flew U.S. cash into Afghanistan through transportation firms.
“The humanitarian assistance facilitated by the shipments provide indirect benefits to the Taliban by stabilizing & legitimizing them," SIGAR reported "Under the guise of income taxation, the Taliban have targeted & extorted money from some recipients of direct cash assistance”
Roughly “$10.9 million was paid...to the Taliban-controlled government” “US currency is difficult to trace...the Taliban now have a greater ability to circumvent the controls of the international banking system [meant to] limit the Taliban's money laundering & terrorism funding"
