Jackson is my second favorite President behind DJT. When my sister and I visited the Hermitage in Nashville it was a great history lesson and insight to our 7th President. I tried to have no pre conceived opinions of him because, well you know how today’s woke are when it comes to history. He is considered the founder of the Democrat party but the party he founded ( because he felt Henry Clay and John Quincy Adam’s were corrupt) eventually became the Democrat Party. He was a war hero and became very popular after he won the Battle of New Orleans. He owned slaves and was quite wealthy. His personal slave loved him so much he asked to be buried next to him and is at the Hermitage.. I can’t remember his name. Jackson was anti corruption, an advocate for the American people and for small government. The media hated him and he blamed the media for the death of his wife, who died after he was elected but before she got to Washington. The main thing his detractors point to is he signed the Indian Removal Act that led to the Trail of Tears. According to the historians at The Hermatage, he didn’t at all support it but believed if the Congress passed it then it was the will of the people and he should do the will of the people. There’s a lot. He’s a fascinating figure and worth reading about. I totally see why Trump likes him and identifies with him. 🥰🥰
