Since Jesus and Mary are presumably also holy figures for Muslims, just not as important as they are in Christianity, I suppose she might be even genuinely sorry because it's always possible some of her own coreligionists got angry.

As the woman may not be actually religious herself - hey, she is in something called Green Party, and the religion may well mean more to her as a political identity than as an actually religious one, wouldn't be the first atheist in the world who pretends to be religious because she either has to, as Muslims don't seem to forgive opting out at all, or she finds it useful - it's always possible that she did that because she just didn't bother to think it through. Just saw the whole thing as a way to show her middle finger to western cultures, then started to get complaints from those Muslims who saw it as an insult also towards their religion.

And is now worried stiff she might get in trouble with the zealot side of her own people.

Kind of interesting to wonder how many of these Muslims now living in the west, and who have to great extent adopted the western "woke" culture even if they themselves think they are just using it to their own advantage, might find themselves against the wall, or stoned to death, if their religion were to take over here, and as that zealot version. Because the hardliners would probably find them as thorough sinners, no matter what excuse they gave for their lifestyle before that Muslim takeover.

Especially the women.
