There are 4 investigations going on involving Adams or the NYPD. One from last year involving Turkish campaign contributions in exchange for permits to build a new Turkish embassy has been going on for a bit and I suspect it uncovered other corruption.

So I'm thinking they probably got phone records or emails and that led to other cases.

Because to get a search warrant you have to have evidence that there's a crime there. You can't just go fishing.
