Google says lasers because that's all anyone thinks about when they think of directed energy.

This device would look more like a flat gray panel. A phase conjugate mirror works basically the opposite of a mirror in that the received radar return is reflected exactly back to its source in a "time reversed" manner.

No aiming is required and missing the target is fundamentally impossible. To the observer the device would seem to be doing nothing at all. Like the flat radar panel but much more special. This technology is the real reason for the obsession with stealth technology.
If a radar can see you, a PCM can hit you and there is no counter measure, unless... you make the skin of your aircraft itself a phase conjugate mirror. But then the problem/question becomes… What wavelength do you design your PCM skin for as a defense?
