That's ok, Fren. I apologize to rain on your post, but I feel I HAVE TO post these facts. I just see these as red flags. I think MJ was a musical genius with flaws.

The other night I was watching a video of my favorite band of all time: Earth, Wind and Fire.  I thought the leader Maurice White was a musical gift to mankind.  I have tons of fantastic memories associated with their music.  It reminds me of being young and having the time of my life.  I thought he probably rode Unicorns and ate Rainbows.  Later that night I looked up Maurice White.  He was a musical genius, but as a man, had his flaws too.

His mother left him to grow up in the housing projects with his grandmother, while she remarried a doctor and had a bunch of children in another city.  His childhood was very poor and very rough.  Some very traumatic things happened to him.  He was once beat up by cops while delivering newspapers. Later he became a musician and honed his skills.  He had totalitarian rule over the band, constantly cheated on his wife and was a somewhat absent father.  Before he died he said he wished he had spent more time with his children. One of his deceased best friend's family came after him for royalties after > 30 years.  I was disappointed when I read what his life was like. Quite sobering, and a let-down.

I was sad to realize that this man I had idolized, had such a regular and somewhat flawed personal life.

When people associate their memories of happiness with someone, they will tend to protect their memories of one of the best times of their life.  It's hard to see their idol's flaws. I get that now, after looking up Maurice.

I have many great memories of MJ's music too.  He was exceptionally gifted. A genius. His music would play and you HAD to be on the dance floor. Everyone has flaws. But I cannot accept pedophilia.
