Hi,
I live in NYC.
Crime is down. This true
Crime still occurs. This is also true.
See how both things can be true.
This crime does not tell us about the state of NYC. It's a single incident.
In a big city. Over 8 million people live in NYC.
That's more than 3 dozen states.
Should we expect there to be no crime in NYC?
Does anyone expect Oklahoma to be crime free? Because NYC has more than twice as many people than Oklahoma
that things are worse than they've been since the early 1990s.
This is flat out silly.
If you look at 1990s, the very best year at the end of the decade has close to 300 more murders than today.
If you look at the decade after that every single year has more than 150 more murders than today.... people were raving about how low crime has dropped.
Murders went up in 2020 and 2021. Then they have dropped in the last 3 years.
This is how much crime has changed in NYC.
This is from 2012 when they were celebrating a record low in murders.
We will be well under that this year.
Here's NYC compared to a random is City I picked
