They and the criminal underclass as a whole have more frequent negative contact with Government/Law Enforcement. Meaning they’re in a position to sue more often. Over real or perceived abuses. When compared to the average citizen whose negative interactions may not extend beyond a traffic ticket.

And ironically people in the general public championed that. As we stood to benefit. It’s only now we’ve realized that protections the criminal class got in dealing with the Government. Also extended to the criminals dealings with the General Public.

Shoplifters as an example have in the past sued in civil court and in some cases have attempted to press criminal charges against Store Security who detained them. Or Good Samaritans who got involved. On charges ranging from Unlawful detention, Kidnapping, to Assault and Battery etc.

It’s why in current year 99.9% of retail Businesses specifically instruct most of their employees to not intervene to prevent shoplifting. And place all kinds of restrictions on what their Loss Prevention can and cannot do. And it’s not because they overly cared much for the employees safety. It’s because the Shoplifters regularly won cases. And it quickly became cheaper to just eat the loss and hope the cops got your shit back later rather than risk a legal battle.

Hell the Whole reason Miranda Rights and the Miranda Warning exist. Is specifically because of a man who was convicted of Kidnapping, Rape, and Armed Robbery.
