Not particularly great. Large parts of Mexico don’t necessarily have particularly great opinions of Americans. For a variety of reasons. And some parts have seen resurgent nationalist interests. Frequently depicting the Southwestern U.S, California, and Texas as ‘occupied territory’. In maps hung in schools and the like. Sending U.S Troops into those areas of Mexico. Wouldn’t likely provoke a friendly response from the locals. Making attacks from two sides likely. Not to mention whatever is left of the Mexican Military and Government.
And a repeat of the Pershing expedition would not likely generate a friendly response from the rest of South and Central America. Or the rest of the world for that matter.
Granted most of it would likely be confined to protesting Embassies and whining online. Though China and Russia getting involved. Even if indirectly would complicate matters. The Game of Geopolitics doesn’t stop just because we had mutual enemies at one point.
