There are a few tidbits that intrigue me about the recovery. First, the plane crashed into the Atlantic at around 10:00PM July 16th, 1999. Bits of wreckage were found July 19th, and the bodies were recovered July 21st around noon. This means the bodies were in the water for over 100 hours. Even with the technology they had in 1999, I just don't understand why it took almost 5 days to find them. I've read that Ted Kennedy positively identified the bodies, but 100 hours in salt water, not to mention...hungry fish...identification would have been a challenge. The other thing is that the remains were cremated within hours after the autopsy and scattered at sea, in a private ceremony, from the USS Briscoe. The Catholic Church doesn't prohibit cremation, but I just can't buy the Kennedy's, even under these abnormal circumstances, going with the option. One last note: JFK, Jr. birthdate is 11/25/1960.
