The very concept of such a vast number of people all in submission to one man (the pope), through his pyramid heirarchy below him, is satanic to me and so easily corrupted. America's founding fathers used Biblical principles to set up the form of government we have, in stark contrast to monarchies and oligarchies. Remember, God was not happy when Israel asked for a king. How much more displeased must He be to see His Church want one! The Apostles did not set up such a power structure. The structures they outlined stopped at the top of each local assembly; they never said that vast groups of local assemblies should be networked together in submission to one "mega-bishop" in Rome or anywhere else!
