Yeah, my daughter and I get around that by her only using the public restrooms marked "family restrooms." She goes in, I stand outside the door looking particularly menacing, and people walk right past and wait somewhere else, out of my eyesight. It works every time.

And if there isn't a "family restroom" to be used, I will stand outside the women's restroom in the same manner, and usually one look into my eyes will keep even the women from going in. I've seen women do the pee-pee dance outside the restroom, even when they know there's open stalls, just because they see me standing in the door way waiting for my daughter. It works extremely well. People know a true Alpha when they see one and will usually give a wide berth. They won't even ask me to move or if the bathroom is open. They just walk away and wait elsewhere for my daughter to come out.

I call her "the MOST protected girl in FL." She goes nowhere without me or at least one of her brothers. And if we're all out together, she's positioned in between all of us. No body even attempts to look at her, even if it's just one of her brothers with her. Its pretty impressive to see, actually.
