I posted this partly for the non-Christians who utilize these symbols because I think that perhaps they will see Christ through them. I am not condoning the use of any of this symbolism, but I was impressed how the author's story all points to God's gift of Christ Jesus. This reminds me a bit of meat sacrificed to idols that Paul knowledgeably talks about in I Corinthians 8. Also...the rainbow...even popery symbolism can point to God and His authority over creation.
