I know there’s disagreement on it, but I tend to think we are able, and should, put away known sins, and stop doing them fairly permanently. The alternative is “nah, keep sinning, it’s all good! Plenty of grace to go around!”
This specific one wasn’t one that I do all the time, thankfully, but it is one that grew out of an area I’m quite weak and prone to failure in. Oh well. Just pray for grace at the end of the race, and strength to endure until then.
There is a concept that there are known, willful sins, and unknown incidental sins (which might still be quite serious). In the OT, the sacrifices at the temple were only for accidental sins, not known ones. I hope that the cross covered known sins, or I’m gonna have problems. It sounds like it does, but we still aught always be trying to put it away anyway.
