The authority structure needs to be considered separate from the history and the scriptural understanding and practices.
Which a lot of people aren’t willing to consider. They have their buckets they want things in, and that’s that. The buckets will not change, and I’m not buying new buckets or changing labels.
The pope can be in some shady stuff without the churchgoer having anything to do it, just like with the masons, or probably with political parties.
If the Pope is God’s voice on Earth, then God suddenly changed his mind and likes lesbians, after having called their practices abominations before.

(That article is one heckuva word salad)
Either God is false, the Bible is false, or some church doctrine or belief is false, and if any of the higher authorities is false, then all the lower authorities are false.
Critical thinking, people.
I believe that there is a lot of good in the Catholic Church’s bodies of people and beliefs that is perfectly fine to carry on and continue in, and even some that is probably better than Protestant interpretations, and would love to see us all coming together in unity to oppose the enemy we are clearly against.
The reluctance to question and even oppose papal and church authorities is not one of those good aspects.
If asked my denomination, I do not consider myself Catholic, nor Protestant, nor Jew, nor Gentile, nor Greek, but of The Body. Obviously I have my methods of interpreting scripture and beliefs that stem from them, but the Hand and the Heart should seek to work together in unity, rather than fighting for supremacy of who is right. We do not have to be in full agreement, but we aught to be working to seek out how we can have unity and how we can identify and cut off evildoers who have infiltrated the body.
Let’s assume that the Catholic Church did start the way that it says it did, which I don’t believe, but that’s fine, are we still to assume that it couldn’t have been infiltrated in however many years it has been in existence? No man in that entire time could have come up with a false doctrine that’s been perpetuated for 500+ years?
We have to be willing to question these things, and to do so with care, testing always the scriptures to see what is true.
but you aren’t even reading the right Bible.
Oi. This battle is a tough one, lads.
Let us pray for longsuffering and discernment and wisdom, because we need it.
