You wouldn't be here otherwise. But there presumably were a lot of people who voted for somebody like Bush not because they were voting against Gore, but because they genuinely thought Bush was what they wanted, and would be, and to their mind, was, a good president.
And then there are people like many Obama voters, the ones who thought they were making history, and may never be willing to admit that their historical first black president might actually have been a really bad choice. Just because he was historical, and black, and it might be bad for blacks if he turned out to be a criminal and a cheat who maybe never really was eligible because he actually was born as a foreigner or some other reason. So because that would be bad, they refuse to admit it might be possible, and will fight tooth and nail to defend their choice to vote for him.
