This is how it sounds to me.

By and large, all the regime leadership has been taken out. There is a vacuum. Different groups and different individuals are jockeying to gain that central spot to lead the new Iran.

Some might be part of the old regime, but have flipped. Example, the President. (If he was 'part' of the Regime, how's he not dead?) The foreign minister. (Same question). etc.

A) If there were actual discussions between a group led by either of these and the Trump administration, they would deny it until everything was settled, and in place. (I mean, how much would Cabal controlled Israel love to wipe out the option of a deal between the Trump USA and a new Iran?) This would easily explain the public mainstream narratives, wherein the President or the remaining 'regime' threaten the US, etc.

Whatever the public narratives are, we can be sure that the actual reality is NOT being told. That's just not how war works.

B) There might be a new group of individuals and influential figures in Iran that are not aligned with the old regime, who want to end the war, restore Iranian sovereignty without the regime, and they are talking with the Trump Administration. They offered very good deals, i.e. oil, energy, if they can claim leadership with American approval.

A few things. Trump saying "this tells me we are talking with the right people' indicates that he considers the gesture (I personally think its a deal or promise of some sort, rather than a material gift) to mean their ascendancy would be good for his (USA) objectives.

So when Trump is saying "they" and "I don't trust them" he is talking about the regime faction, but when he says "They" and "they did something that was amazing", he's talking about the potential new leadership of Iran.

"They said they were going to give it and they did, so that tells me we're dealing with the right people."

He did say it "arrived", so it might be some material thing, but he also said it was oil and gas related, so...??

"Cos, you don't know...." Trump is explaining that they are working with unknowns. All the regime leadership has been liquidated, and you are left with a vacuum, so he's talking with people who need to show their good faith, and prove that they are sincere.

"Everyone is gone, but we're dealing with a group of people that I think <mumble> turn out .... the present the gift they made to us was very significant."

Remember: Fog of War. The propaganda machines will churn, spin narratives that are NOT the reality, but if you join the dots outside the narratives, the picture begins to become clearer.
