Having the same problem, so you're not hallucinating. Last time something like this happened it was deliberate by X and they stopped doing it after a few days (mandatory sign in to view...).

That said I personally haven't tried using nitter.net, xcancel.com or nitter.poast.org to view these videos yet. That might work.

Edit: I also want to say, in my mind, this started happening after the mods did their recent overhaul here. Maybe related. 🤷‍♂️
