Why does it cost that much in the first place? It should be free (your skill, labor and materials from your land) or "cheap" (maybe 10 to 50k in parts and labor in our current market) plus the cost of land (which should be 1/10th of it's current cost).

Every single part of "construction" or "buying a home" is a scam. I should know. I've built or remodeled many homes. I've designed and engineered dozens. I've bought and sold about ten of them. I've taken out or otherwise processed more mortgages than any one else I know. I've also written a book on the topic (in part).

EVERY PART is a scam. And that's just a home. That doesn't even get into what a mortgage really is.
