Regarding miracle cures, we have the technology and the ability to take a couple's DNA, test to see what likelihood of genetic defects would exist in their offspring, and fix the DNA so there is 0% chance of defects.

This actually goes back to early 2000s from what I remember off hand. Believe Turkey was one of the only countries in the world to allow genetic manipulation in humans back in 2004/2005 (not sure what's legal these days).

Also, for every 1 brand name drug that a big pharmaceutical company produces, there are 99 projects that failed. If there companies make as much profit as they do off 1% success rate, think how much less they would make if all curable diseases disappeared forever.
