My parents took everything I owned and literally dumped me on the street when I was 17. They showed up every few years demanding money and I was always respectful but avoided allowing them to keep walk all over me. There were other issues too, but I'll leave it there.

When my first child was born, I realized that I could not allow my parents to have any interaction with my family... so I visited my parents and told them they were no longer welcome on my property... and to never bring their problems to my front door again.

They told me to get fucked... and that was that.

Best decision I ever made.

EDIT: If your husband chooses to remove his toxic parents from his life, then he'll need to think about what he'll do when his brothers or sisters contact him with news that his mother or father is about to have risky surgery or when one of his parents eventually dies. It's a difficult choice that shouldn't be made lightly.
