Funnily enough, I saw in their first chat that they were forced to do merchandise because profiteers were posing as George and selling merchandise under their name. They also did not want to accept superchat donations at first but followers sent them superchats anyway, so they just gave up and accepted their kindness.

When I get the chance I might compile chats from George's older Chat Lines to help paint a picture of who George is. The more I investigate the more I feel like I can trust them. For example they said in one of the earlier Chat Lines that they were practically next door to the WH in the EEOB (this was before the inauguration):
