Yes, I realise that anti-virus researchers are known as White hats, ethical hackers whose job is to discover attack vectors in computers and networks.

so they always know about exploits before most others.

Their anti-virus product is a result of this research and is the protection that you buy.

It's entirely feasible that Mcafe was a white hat since his company was formed, it's possible that John Mcafee was a DIA asset all along.

and his deadmans switch is a perfect method of releasing high grade, damaging information gained by exploits that they perhaps reserved for their own uses?
