There is so much waste in the Government. They'll give out a subsidy for X tonnage and any extra is essentially waste. Farms can't even give it away because it's not theirs to give.

Some of these mega farms can only survive on subsidies as they are in so much debt. So they are left with a decision to at least keep living and farming on their generational family farm or go bankrupt and leave to let a stranger take over.
