Part 1 - how bad can things get?

It can get pretty bad anon, permanently damaged or imprisoned for life, or you could die in many of the various (even horrible and evil) ways anyone could imagine.

Part 2 - how can you prepare?

The #1 way to prepare is getting faith in God. Build a solid foundation of faith. Make sure nothing will shake it. Test your faith (this is not testing God, but your faith) by subjecting yourself to increasingly difficult things or situations. Follow the lessons of God like a scientist, read His word, understand the hypotheses, the apparatuses (love, humbleness, kindness, sharing), study the procedures (what happened), and attempt to repeat it. If you fail, look at everything, were you selfish somewhere, biased, is there something deeper you need to identify and correct? Correct and retry. Build your faith so you can stand without doubt, without arrogance, without pride, and being humble. If you encounter any problems, go back to His word, and study more - show yourself worthy. EVERY SINGLE THING YOU NEED TO GROW STRONG IS RIGHT THERE. Remember that, don't doubt it. You should be able to stand on faith even in the hardest times, because it is the solid foundation for you to grow from, as God intended. Sometimes you may face a period where God will temper your faith, maybe you will get a prolonged sickness, face a difficult loss, or even be imprisoned. Stay strong, yeah, remember this: STAY STRONG. Don't give up on Him. It might seem like you're breaking, but keep it together, and keep trusting in Him, keep remembering His word, keep looking for His hand in your life. Understand that when troubles like these come, what doesn't kill you ends up making you stronger, and He's molding you into the best you can be. So do not be ashamed to humble yourself before God.

The #2 way to prepare is to put Jesus Christ as the role model of your life. Again this is going to require you to study Him, His life, His words, the people who were with Him, His relationships with others, and with God. Every single thing you do, start asking yourself: "how can I do them more like Jesus Christ would?" He was never violent, always wise, loving and upstanding, and never was played for a fool by the wicked. Is it hard to be like that. Do not think it's easy. But like learning any skill, the more you do it, the more experience you gain, and the better you become. Accept you will be hated, accept you will be mocked, accept you may even be killed. Is it going to be hard? YOU CAN BET ON IT! But understand, if you give in to the ego side of things, the arrogant side, the dark side, the unholy side, those are steps towards following the enemy of Christ, and if you keep doing that, soon Christ won't be your role model and things will be pretty bad. So make sure He's your role model and you understand how to keep following him as much as you can NOW. You never know when some agent of the enemy will separate you from His word. But if you know Him Now, they will never separate you, and you will always have access to Him. This is the training you need NOW while you can get it, so you can remember it and share it and aid others when you need. Solidify it in your mind by practising to live like Him, and speak like Him, even if it's just a little bit every day.

The #3 way to prepare is keeping your body and mind as healthy as you can. Get off of vices, get a non-weight exercise plan in your mind (p90x3 is a good one), learn to eat right, learn to love water, find skills or hobbies you can do that brings you enjoyment, and can help others. Learn to live off the bare essentials. Learn to cope now with someone removing every appendage of your body and every sense. This way, if you go to jail, are locked up, or you are tortured, people will marvel at the strength of your mind, and your ability to bounce back and remain strong, and will look to you for guidance to train them to be strong mentally and physically too.

The #4 way to prepare is everything else. But more importantly, you will want all of your family and loved ones to understand #1, #2, #3. After that everything else goes - deal with your financial situation, getting gold/silver bars, protecting your family, getting lots of food, house protection, security cameras, guns, ammo, knives, axes, secret rooms, medicines, batteries, community contacts, etc. Understand these could all be lost in the blink of an eye and should not be your #1 way.

Anyway, take it as you will, just my 2c.
