Karma is wishful thinking(and not much at that), it's basically just the same thing as the religious 'paradise if you do good hell if you don't' concept.

Think about it, it is a system that would get genuinely bad souls to do good things, not because they cared about others but because they cared about getting the rewards for it.

It and it's religious equivalents is the only thing that can turn good acts into selfish and entirely self serving ones........

It's a 'system' that would teach souls that are rotten to the core how to 'act' nice rather than make them do good because they wanted to and because they cared....

Also a system that makes everything bad that happens to you be because you 'deserve it' without you knowing/remembering why doesn't create good, it just solidifies bad by creating more anger and resentment.

Selfish and self-serving isn't big on self reflection, they don't ask 'why me' because they by their very nature aren't prone to feeling guilty as much as they are likely to actively justify why they shouldn't feel guilt because their actions invariably hurts others and being selfish means that feeling bad about it gets in the way of them and what they want...

Think about it, if you hurt someone angry and hateful, would that make them hate less, or more.......................

That said, fucking others over and self-service at the expense of others is shortsighted and it does tend to accumulate enemies, and on the other side of that equation doing good and caring about others does tend to accumulate you friends and those that care about you and others............

Lowest common denominator, what you see in this life, leveled up...

More good and 'haven't quite made up their minds yet' than there are genuinely bad people, grownup's tend to put down boundaries and exert some measure of control over their children and among them there are also those that make a life out of teaching and helping the young ones. Assuming that this tendency carries on as souls grow older(larger/stronger/more) is the smallest 'leap of faith' one can take and there really isn't anything that suggest that this isn't the case(quite a bit that suggests that it is though) so to assume more would require getting on the faith upon faith merry-go-round.
