Yes, very true. I believe hospitals “slip in” extra charges all the time. I was physically assaulted by a patient (the family believed it was due to a medication they told the hospital not to give him). He was clearly not mentally stable, otherwise I would have sued him for assault. I was told to go to the ER as a precaution and get checked out. The NP told me I had TMJ. When I said nobody ever told me that before, she quickly moved on. Low and behold, I received a notice my insurance company paid the bill. On principle, I fought it because it should have gone to workmen’s compensation and the hospital should have paid. My insurance company was pretty much indifferent and said I should contact my employer’s business office. No one would call me back regarding why my insurance was billed. I called the Patient Advocate and played phone tag. Finally she called me back, but had no knowledge of why I called. Finally she intervened with the business office after asking, “So what do you want the bottom line to be.” (Real tactful and caring response as a patient advocate to an employee! Makes you wonder how she treats other patients or family members). I finally received a call from the business office who said there was nothing they could do since insurance already paid. I said I would let the insurance know they were committing fraud. Finally they said they would contact the insurance company. It was reversed. What I found out later was they submitted the bill to Victims of Fraud on my behalf, without my knowledge. How is that possible? I have zero clue. But clearly I was victimized again by my employer who was to damn cheap to pay the bill for a crime committed to me by a patient. By that time I was done with the entire process. I wish I had had the time to pursue it, but I knew I wouldn’t win. The hospital has every major law firm secured in Cleveland in order to insure they win and the little guy loses. The AMA was started by the Rockefellers. Everything is owned and intertwined-Black Rock, Vanguard, AMA, AAP, banks, hospitals, insurance companies, Big Pharma, neighborhood pharmacies, Big Agriculture, Meat Packers, real estate, investment firms, Wall Street, FDA, CDC, NIH, etc., etc. Until the corruption from the top down is removed, we are owned and controlled by all of them in one way or another
