I do not know that the Crusaders were Christian. Many will/have claimed Christianity as a means to "not look bad". While probably not actually taking the Lord's name in vain as specifically they hide behind the concept, boasting it as a means to hide their sin from man while never actually turning to the Father and repenting for their sin. If Christians were involved forgiveness can be had by them had they sought the Father's forgiveness. The only sin that cannot be forgiven being blaspheming the Holy Spirit. Child birth is often the result of nothing better to do than have sex, which happens a lot in places that have just experienced near extinction events. It is a drive of the Flesh and not of the Spirit, I feel, that guides these people to procreate. God himself is said to be able to make those pregnant that he wishes, if God gives you a baby you keep it! But in most of the cases I do not think that the people were praying to God for children.
