I just looked it up and what they were licking were holy shrines as well as the doors of the shrines. They also (the clerics) were spitting in water bottles they used to bless the sick from the wuflu... it is hilarious though and you're right, they are crazy... like a fox maybe... herd immunity... kinda like the Amish drinking from the communal goblet during holy communion...
