I was actually going to become an orthopod because it was the only specialty where I could be certain I was helping and not harming people. It's a very cool field, but the lifestyle is very very tough.

And yes, I almost put a section in the post about biologics like Humera but decided it was long enough already. The biologics that alter the immune system like Humera scare me because the trials are so focused on RA outcomes that they never spend the time truly digging into the data about what the side effects of supressing the immune system are. As you maybe saw from my post, supressing the immune system is well-known to cause cancer.

The best treatment for rheumatism is dietary changes. RA is usually indicative of underlying systemic inflammation. Things that promote inflammation in the body are polyunsaturated oils (the ones they tell you are healthy) like peanut, safflower, cottonseed, ricebran oil etc. Vegetable oils are BAD. Animal fats are good. High amounts of sugar, particularly fructose, also lead to inflammation.

My advice to people with autoimmune symptoms is to try a diet of red meat, greens, and rice for a month before going to any type of immune supressing drug (if ever). Look at people like Jordan Peterson, his daughter, and many others who had soul-destroying autoimmune issues resolve with a zero-carb carnivore diet.

I also would consider reading this book. It's definitely out there, but it's more compelling than anything mainstream medicine has to say about autoimmune disorders

My two cents.
