Trump admired his sheer talent and honesty. In a way they were Friends, yeah.

He IS/WAS a Band, oh yeah, no matter who played with him he was the band. Meatloaf didn't just make songs he wrote and performed each one as an opus or anthem. His talent was rare, perhaps not quite unique but almost so. Trump appreciated his stature, talents, his Humanity.

Meatloaf was a Good Boy who wrote Bad songs, and he did it very very well. He wasn't just edgy he was inspired, everything he did was over-amped and outrageous, yet each note was perfect. It isn't hard to imagine Trump seeing himself there. They even shared a bit of the same sort of ego, for my nickel.

If you've never become familiar with him, and you like Rock, give him a listen. His DVD with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is perhaps the best live recording ever, worth every penny if you can find it. Turn it up...

Meatloaf's creativity was off the charts, but he stayed based his whole life. Once when he was interviewing female singers for a tour one Lady sang and then she thought she had bombed and was outside in the parking lot being upset. She saw the tour bus and went over there and was beating up the bus, because she wanted the gig. Meatloaf walked over there and told her when she was through trashing the bus would she please come back inside because he wanted to work with her- she did the tour, she's in this video.
