Question about “bug out bags.”

Where will you bug out to? I’m not being facetious. What are your ideas if it’s a nuclear threat? If everyone is bugging out, you won’t get very far on the road near a sizable city. Ever see what happened before hurricane Rita was forecast to hit Houston? The interstates were complete mayhem. People died. https://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Hurricane-Rita-anxiety-leads-to-hellish-fatal-6521994.php

I just see the same scenario in a nuclear threat. Where will you go? You will NOT be able to bug out unless you leave well before any actual threat. Everyone, and I mean everyone will be freaking out-like nobody has ever freaked out before. Where will everyone go. A mountain? Your in-laws? That cabin on the lake nobody uses? It makes no sense to me to try to leave because I know I won’t get out of the greater Tampa area. Too many vehicles, not enough roads.

In towns and cities- the recklessness and looting will begin and panic food shopping. You won’t be able to get food and you’ll probably get injured or possibly killed in the process. You’d be safest laying low at home. Digging dirt. Shelter in place. If you’re that close to an important target (like I am to CENTCOM’s main HQ at MacDill in Tampa) you are toast. I’ll be toast. Or a shadow on a sidewalk. Anyway, I guess my point is- where will you “bug out” to?? I’d love to hear plans.
