Haha! Hey, I'm half Italian. My mother is from Italy. I lived there over two years. No one loves Italian food more than I do. But as you must surely know, the so-called Mediterranean Diet everyone has been harping on for so many decades is a total sham. For those who don't know, the REAL Mediterranean Diet is filled to the brim with ham, chesse, sausage, salami, the fattiest meat you can think of. Italians treat their guests well, so they always cut off the fattiest parts of their meats for me always accompanied by the pronouncement that the fat is the most flavorful part. If you go into an Italian restaurant - and I mean a real Italian restaurant - you will have no problems eating a meat-heavy, fat-rich meal. Wine is dry, little to no sugar so no problem. Eat the Panna Cotta for desert, no problem, but skip the sugary syrup they put on top. Get them to melt dark chocolate on it. I realize my diet means pasta and rice and other Italian staples are out, but those are just fillers anyway, you wouldn't eat them by themselves. The flavors are all in the fats and the sauces, and these can all fit into a fat-adapted diet.
