Sri Lankan here. We have a pretty good information-technology industry in the country. The Indian government attempted to do something at the diplomatic level called CEPA (Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement). If it passed, it'd make movement between Sri Lanka and India for workers simpler.

Both our and the Indian government had to drop the agreement when the IT industry gave them hell for it.

I remember the 60 minutes segment about how Indian IT workers were being trained to replace US workers and it pissed me off. As far as I'm concerned, you did the right thing.

Additionally: Our relationship with India is like the US's relationship with England; they're the big brother that we both look up to because we're descended from them (actually current Sri Lankans are a mix of the native population and various Indian ethnicities, despite the natives existing), but also the big brother that annoys us to hell by trying to claim us as one of their own (Sri Lankans do not like being thought of as being part of India). India is also part of the reason our country had a 30 year civil war (RAW, I'm looking at you), which is also the reason we're in such dire straits today. So, love-hate.
