A slave can only exist by choice. In every case, a person chooses to be a slave. That is one of the lessons of the GA. Sometimes the choice is slavery or death, or worse, slavery or the death of your family. It is still a choice however, even if the available options suck.

A slavemaster must have compliance AKA the slave must choose to be a slave. A slavemaster can be a slavemaster in no other way.
