I mean... If you have a shitty name and you really don't like it, or if your parents accidentally spelled your name wrong, or you're spotted, that's what court-ordered name changes and birth certificate amendments are for.

No big deal.

And I change my name to Moonbeam Firecrotch Baggins? That's on me. Free to choose. Not free from consequences.

My daughter-in-law is a transwomen. I don't get it, don't understand it. But she's nice, polite and she treats my son well. Only came up because we were talking about having kids one day. She started transitioning before turning 13 years old. Why her parents let that happen I don't know,i don't know them very well. I know she was sexually abused as a male child by extended family, and I know they had her in therapy. Who knows how badly both of those (abuse and therapy) can fuck you up?

I don't judge her.

She's respectful. She behaves, sounds, and looks like a normal genetic woman, probably because she started so young. My son loves her, so I accept her. I use her name and the pronoun 'her' because I'm respectful to her as a human, and as family.

We once had a great discussion about her mom, who still accidentally uses her birth name (a male name). She used to get frustrated by it, until I pointed out it had to be hard for her mom to switch. "She knew you half your life as her boy. That's a hard transition for a parent - just like gender transition was for you.", were pretty much my exact words.

She gets it now.

Anyway, all I'm saying is you can have diametrically opposed political views (we do) but can still get along and respect one other.

That's sorely lacking lately.
