Trump was arm twisted into taking Pence onboard. Remember, Trump had to put together teams of people in order to have an administration which was not his wheelhouse. Pence was put in charge of the task force for corona. Why? Trump allowed these swamp rats to operate unfettered. It either speaks to the fact that Trump was handcuffed in his last year in office, or, that it was a major set up to distance himself and to later get them to take the fall. I would prefer the latter, but I am not completely discounting the first either. Then again, it could also be a combination of the two. This is a war and there are always moves and countermoves. Sometimes losing a few battles in order to strategically win the war in the end comes with the territory.
