I have to disagree. Some viability of precious metals comes from how well a random person can detect fraud in routine transactions after SHTF. For example, with silver rounds you have to weigh them but even so you never know their purity. With silver Eagles one can trust them more because of edge milling and the degree of detail in the stamping and known content of silver metal.

Junk silver is good for low-value barter, no more than that. One-ounce standard coins have higher value than one-ounce blanks and both have higher value than junk silver.
