I’m an enthusiastic Trump supporter from rural Eastern Kentucky. I was a huge Howard Dean supporter back in 2003-2004. Back then, I was more anti-Bush than anything, but I identified with the Democratic Party for what I regarded as its populism: It was the party of Jefferson, Jackson, FDR, and Kennedy. The party of the people, the working class. But during the Obama years, I became very sensitive to the increasingly elitist, very snobbish and highly condescending orientation of modern Democrats.

A decisive moment came during the primary debate where Al Sharpton (that fraud!) famously challenged Howard Dean’s position that the Democratic Party should be the party of guys with gun racks and Confederate flag decals on their pick-up trucks (the pre-Trump stereotype of the white working class). Howard Dean was dragged over the coals for this position and Al Sharpton, I believe, persuaded the Democratic Party that the white working class who were unreceptive to their ridiculous economic and social policies were irredeemably racist, beneath contempt, and not worthy of political outreach. It really was a turning point of sorts for the modern Democratic Party. Hard to believe now that Howard Dean, who is now just another D.C. Democratic mandarin parroting party talking points about “Russian interference,” was once a fresh-thinking moderate outsider from rural Vermont, and that Al Sharpton (later rehabilitated as an oracular MSNBC talking head) was something of a pariah and certainly not taken seriously… At any rate, following this consequential exchange, no longer were overtures to the working class regarded as prudent by Democrats. You can see how Obama was embraced as the supreme avatar of the modern Democratic Party that came to embody this fundamental viewpoint, and how it set the stage for Trump and the stunning upset of the 2016 presidential election. The primary defeat of Bernie Sanders by Hillary Clinton was the final straw for me. With nowhere left to turn in the Democratic Party, I turned to Donald Trump—who speaks the language of the working class and who shares their fundamental values. I embraced the common sense “America First” ideology that is incredibly regarded by academics, Democrats and bureaucrats as “controversial” and “fascist.”

I see now that Democrats are obsessed with academic credentials and speak in labyrinthine jargon. These things are markers of class and prestige for these shameless snobs. The elitist Democratic Party is now virtually indistinguishable from the administrative class of soulless bureaucrats that is strangling everything in the West. Woke ideology and cancel culture is their cudgel against the working class they claim to represent but not-so-secretly loathe. They hate the residents of Middle America who were suspicious of their great champion Barack Obama, and who subsequently betrayed them by embracing Donald Trump. The left will never forgive the working class. Their contempt is explicit. Hence, I now recognize the left as my enemy. Simple as.
