Why do Catholics bring up Luther like he's the standard and shy away from the ideas of God's word being the standard, not men or their traditions?

Which of those do you support someone being murdered for agreeing with exactly? Because the Catholic church certainly did. The same institution that was murdering people for translating scripture into the common tongues so the people could read it removing the church & priests as gatekeepers of knowledge.
