This post is a great opportunity to reflect on the power of confirmation bias.

If anons think they are above confirmation bias, they (we) need to reflect long and hard. Side-stepping confirmation bias is something that requires constant practice and awareness, and needs to be backed up by solid practices of due diligence, logic and questioning. As per Q exhortations.

This post is stickied, and labeled "Taiwan welcomes Nancy...."

What's the bias here? It's the disgust we feel for Nancy Pelosi. Disgust that is justified.

But that strong emotional position can easily lead us to celebrate or fist pump when we see someone else criticizing or abusing her, too.

But these people here are not only a very small group: they are also a CCP support team, as is directly shown by this picture here:

The second placard from the right says:

Taiwan needs Peace. We don't need war! Taiwan People's Communist Party -

My Chinese is a little rusty, but the big red sign on the left reads something like:

"We are united! We welcome Unity!"

Who are united? Why, CCP China and Taiwan! Whose unity? Taiwan being "unified" into CCP China...

The flaming CCP red clothing should have been a ...red ... flag.

Anyway, interesting opportunity to reflect on how easy it is to be nudged along by our biases, regardless of whether we are anons, or not. Some folks caught this, but many did not.

clearly talking about Taiwan being "unified" into CCP China.

The flaming CCP red clothing should have been a ...red ... flag. Anyway, interesting opportunity to reflect on how easy it is to be nudged along by our biases, regardless of whether we are anons, or not.
